Principles and measures for nuclear safety in storage of excess weapons-grade plutonium in the permanent storage facility being designed within the russian-us agreement
Currently, the adopted international agreements on the large-scale reduction of nuclear weapons make urgent the problem of long-term and safe stockpiling and storage of fissile materials recovered from nuclear weapons being dismantled. The Russian storage facility project efforts at the "Mayak" plant (Ozersk) are being employed by Russian and US specialists on a joint basis.
