Measurement and calculation of solid fraction in quenched semi-solid melts of rheocast aluminum alloy A357

Samples of rheocast aluminum alloy A357 were rapidly quenched from temperatures in the solid plus liquid range.Fraction solid at a given temperature was measured by quantitative metallography and compared with solidification curves calculated with the thermodynamic software Thermo-Calc~direct R.Calculated values are found to be 10-20
