A new indirect impact forces tatio-based alternative has been proposed for the assessment of impact damage tolerance in thick woven roving composite systems and under impact conditions where delamination dominates the state of damage propagation. Its results captured the decreasing trend of residual compressive strengths and correlated reasonably well with that of the conventional assessment based on compression-after-impact tests for the same composite systems. This altemative has demonstrated to be simple and effective and can be particularly useful for both in impact damage-tolerant composite structural design and the development of laminated composites.
