Abstract: This paper addresses the requirements for the design of a field emissive display for cockpit applications as well the results of preliminary performance evaluation from optical, electrical and environmental standpoints. The design requirements and the specific characteristics of a field emissive display are first reviewed prior to discussing the design rationale. The test setups used for the preliminary performance evaluation and the first test results are presented and reviewed. !8
