摘要

Ferronickel produced by reduction smelting of oxidized nickel ores contains, as a rule, Cu, Si, C, Cr, S and P in addition to Ni, Co and Fe. The composition of ferronickel produced in various nickel operations are presented in this paper. The discussion covers the theoretical behaviour of impurities, and modern industrial and developing methods for ferronickel refining. Experimental data on production of extra-pure ferronickel and various ferronickel-based alloys (copper, chrome) are presented. Technology for upgrading ferronickel and the possible separation of nickel and cobalt from ferronickel are also discussed.
