This paper discusses the 1,450 MW Ghazi Barotha Hydropower Project from feasibility study to construction. The project is situated on the Indus River in Northern Pakistan just downstream of Tarbela dam. It includes a 52 km long, 1,600 m3/s capacity, concrete lined power chnnel, which will be one of the largest such canals in the world. The development of the project has involved significant sediment studies and hydraulic mdoel testing.
