A new audio digital mxiing console has been developed, using only one relatively low-cost Digital Signal Processor (DSP) chip. Overall components have been kept at a real minimum, with notebook size and weight. Most efforts have been aimed at software programming optimization, yielding a versatile console with several processing algorithms for both live acts sound reinforcement and project studios 8 track recording. Analog-style operating modes, an ergonomic contorl panel and a comprehensive Graphic User Interface (GUI) make the mixing console easy to use. Extensive Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) control has been implemented to offer total real-time automation. This paper discusses many design choices and describes the end result.
