It is now necessary to revise the design load for road bridges and to provide reinforcement methods for the negative bending moment action range, primarily for continuous bean bridges, etc. So by modifying the increased slab thickness method (called ISIM)~(1)), one which has been exacuted in the past as a punching shear reinforcement method for RC slab decks on steel girder bridges, we have developed the superstructure reinforcing method with overlaid reinforced concrete (called SSRM). Because the main purpose of the ISM was to improve resistance to punching shear, reinforcing bars were not installed to reinforce the steel fiber reinforced concrete placed on top of the existing RC deck slabs.
