Abstract: Excimer lasers with stimulated Raman scattering cell and Nd:YAG laser with frequency doubler were employed to study the effect of laser radiation both on intact and atherosclerotically damaged aortic wall. After irradiation, samples of aorta were subjected to detailed morphologic study and sizes of craters, necrosis and tissue destruction zones were determined. Lipid content and spectra of the extracts affected by laser beam were under consideration as well. !6
