Influence of atomic core resonances on high harmonic generation

Abstract: HHG in a system 'ion with internal degrees of freedom plus outer electron' is discussed quantum-mechanically and classically. Resonance effects can be strongly manifested in such a system. Spectral amplitude of the resonant harmonic of the dipole moment of the system can be estimated multiplying such amplitude evaluated under single-electron approximation by some correcting factor. The last depends on polarizability of the ion and of a free electron at the harmonic frequency. !9 [truncated]
