Abstract: Magneto-optic waveguides show specific properties in comparison with waveguides of other dielectric materials. Depending on the choice of configuration, there is either a coupling between guided TE and TM modes, or a phase shift of TM modes. Both effects are nonreciprocal and depend on the external magnetic field or permanent magnetization. This paper briefly overviews methods for modeling of magneto-optic waveguides. Special attention is paid to the application of perturbation theory for finding modes and to beam propagation.!15
