WAVE is a novel paradigm and programming environment based on the concept of mobile intelligent agents. It allows intelligent mobile agents to roam in networks of arbitrary topology in a highly parallel and completely distributed manner. We show how WAVE can be effectively used in the simulation of the mobile-IP protocol. After a brief introduction of the WAVE paradigm and the mobile-IP protocol, we describe in details the features of our mobile-IP simulator. The advantages of using WAVE in the simulation of mobile-IP protocols are discussed, including generality, flexibility, extensibility, visualization and fast prototyping. Potential disadvantages are also presented, including its unsuitability for performance evaluation due to inherent lack of time features in the language.
