Organic electronic crystals N-phenyl-phthalic imidine and their properties

The significance of a new type of organic electronic crystals based on substituted N-phenylphthalic imidine have been illustrated in this paper. Two crystal materials: N-(phenyl) phthalic imidine (I, C/sub 14/H/sub 9/NO/sub 2/) and N-(p-methylphenyl) phthalic imidine (I,C/sub 15/H/sub 11/NO/sub 2/) were prepared and confirmed by IR, NMR, MS and elementary analysis. The crystal and molecular structures were determined by X-ray diffraction. The relative dielectric constants /spl epsi//sub r/, piezoelectric parameters d/sub 33/ and refractive index n were measured respectively. The synthesis preparation, molecular structure, dielectric and piezoelectric and optical properties were discussed.
