Based on the fact that is the adaptive compensator requires a huge number of weights, but among them only a few have non zero values after convergence in multiple echo cancellation applications for long distance telephone networks, a new adaptive algorithm was proposed. Extensive computer simulations show that the new algorithms exhibit superior performances in convergence speed and compensation accuracy only with a little increasing of computation comparing with original NLMS algorithm.
