A comprehensive model is developed to analyze performance of amultibeam active phased array antenna used in a high traffic capacityTDMA satellite communications system. The model includes the effects ofintermodulation distortion, sidelobe level interference, partial arrayfailure, pointing errors, and amplitude and phase errors. Theperformance of a Ka-band 64 beam satellite antenna system based on amodular tile approach is assessed in terms of C/I ratio and EIRPperformance. The results presented show the graceful degradationcharacteristics in high communication traffic applications in terms ofpartial array failures and array errors
