Abstract: A groundbased microwave heterodyne spectrometer for the monitoring of the vertical distribution of middle atmospheric ozone has been developed at our institute. It has supplied data since the end of 1992. Because standalone operation has been planned, one important design goal of the instrument was to achieve a high degree of automation. In this paper an overview of the instrument is given and some of the long term data are presented. !6
