Three novel catalytic technologies have been developed udner funding from NASA's regenerative life support community which offer new, more efficinet ways to remediate both aqueous and gas phase environmental contaminants: a low temperature Aqueous Phase Catalytic Oxidation System (APCOS), Immobilized Enzyme Bioreactors, and Catalytically Active Regenerable Sorbents (CARS). The first two technologies eliminate aqueous contaminants which are not efficinetly removed by the Space Station's baseline ion exchange and sporption water reclamation technology known collectively as multifiltration.
