Passive Vibration Suppression Using Thin Tape with Viscous Lamina

Vibration environment at lift-off of satellite launchers is one of critical conditions for electrical devices or systems on board. Countermeasure against the vibration is sometimes required, however, it is difficult to find an effective and practical one under the restrictions of weight increase and space. In this paper, a polyimid tape with viscous lamina is noted on the applicaiton to the passive vibration suppression, since it has shown a remarkable effect for vibration suppression in the practical application to a satellite. In order to investigate its damping mechanism, several kinds of experiments have been performed and their resutls are reported in this paper.
