Proposed is a piezoelectric linear motor driven by traveling waves generated on a straight stator rail of a finite length. The traveling waves are produced by superposing standing waves with phase difference. All piezoelectric elements on the motor are used to cause waves on the stator rails. The performance of the innovative motor is dramatically improved on comparing with the conventional piezoelectric linear motor which has electrical circuits to absorb vibration energy in order to produce travelign waves on a straight stator rail of a finite length. Moreover, an ultrasonic motor driven by pi-shaped linear actuator units is also improved and discussed. This type is also based upon the superposition of standing waves with phase difference.
