Integrating a radar/ESM antenna suite with the S-70 helicopter

The underside of the helicopter below the crew cabin was used forthe installation of a combination antenna system. Very little clearanceis available between the helicopter underside and the ground whenaccounting for hard landings. A combination of technical approaches wererequired to install broadband, rotating antennas along with a radarnarrowband antenna in these small volumes. All antennas in the suite,which cover 5.2 octaves, share a common rotating scan axis. Singlemethod attacks on the problem did not produce desired results. Reportedis the successful compromise solution giving acceptable levels ofperformance for all systems served by the suite
