Meeting OSHA's requirements for personal protection through the specification of Type 2 protection in industrial facilities

There is starting to become an awareness in the USA of the importance of specifying Type 2 protection in new and existing panels. Type 2 protection can be achieved through the use of certain current limiting fuses which will reduce the available energy under fault conditions. By reducing the amount of energy available such that Type 2 protection can be achieved, OSHA's requirements for Personal Protection can also often be met. This paper addresses the requirements of each area and the link between the two such that both requirements are often satisfied.
