The generalized impedance boundary condition modeling a thinelastic layer separating two elastic half-spaces permits one, in theproblem of transmission of an elastic wave through the layer, toeliminate from the consideration the wave field in the layer andtherefore to considerably simplify the problem. In particular thededuced general impedance boundary condition permits one to obtain thereflection and refraction coefficients of a plane elastic wave incidenton a thin elastic layer separating two elastic half-spaces
