The performance of a direct-sequence spread-spectrum coarseacquisition system operating in the presence of narrowband interferenceis considered under two processing strategies. The first strategy usesthe arbitrary phase present at the input as the reference phase for allcorrelation operations, while the second uses a prediction filter tosuppress narrowband interference. Performance is considered for bothshort and long spreading codes when either sinusoidal or narrowbandGaussian interference is present in the input signal. While theperformance using the first method is consistently better when the samereference phase is used, the overall performance is usually superiorunder the second method, because an optimal reference phase may bechosen
