An expert system for pressure ulcers: a work in progress

摘要

Expert system (ES) technology is entering its fourth decade of evolution and has proven successful when used as an adjunct to human non-expert decision-making. Pressure ulcers are identified as a health problem that is poorly diagnosed and expensive to care for. This domain may prove to be suitable for mapping onto an expert system knowledge base. The diagnoses and care of pressure ulcers involves not only empirically defined rules and facts, but also intuition. This system will be development for clinical nurses within Greater Victoria's hospitals.
