The complete computer-aided design procedure for surface acoustic wave (SAW) chirp filters with interdigital transducers (IDTs) is considered. In the design, the single dispersive transducer configuration is used, e.g., one IDT is dispersive and the other one is uniform. Starting from the desired impulse response, the position of electrodes of the dispersive transducer and their lengths (apodization) are determined first. After that, the geometry of the uniform transducer is calculated. The last step is the design of the coupling network between the IDTs, the load, and the generator.
