This paper provides an overview of the capabilities and development of theDream Chaser space vehicle and its Guidance Navigation and Control (GN&C)system design. The Dream Chaser is the only contender in the CommercialCrew Integrated Capability (CCiCap) program making use a lifting body vehicleand the GN&C system is being designed to take full advantage of its benefits.With lessons learned from previous lifting body programs the GN&C designwill provide a level of robustness, capability and safety unequaled in humanspace flight to date. New technologies will be fully taken advantage of toincrease performance capability and safety while concurrently employing triedand true technologies and algorithms to leverage a strong heritage of humanspaceflight qualified GN&C design. Automatic control capability will be availablethroughout nearly the entire mission with primary manual mode controlanticipated for key safety critical phases.
