If I Can See It, I Should Be Able to Use It: Connecting Broadcast Production Systems with Social Media, UGC and Web Production Systems

摘要

Journalists should be able to directlyincorporate any media they see into a story through simpledrag and drop operations, regardless of where the mediaoriginated (e.g. professional servers of varied types andlocations, cloud repositories, UGC, FTP or Social Media).This should be possible regardless of whether the completedstory will be distributed through Broadcast, Web or anyother specific distribution channel. This paper will explainhow emerging technology and existing open standards arefinally allowing journalists to bridge technical gaps betweenproduction silos with intuitive drag and drop editorialworkflows. This paper focuses on editorial workflow modelscurrently being deployed in newsrooms throughout NorthAmerica using equipment available from a variety ofvendors supporting the relevant open standards.
