A novel partially cascaded heat pump(PCHP) system featuring separated processing of latent and sensible load is present and the performance was analyzed theoretically. Results show that the system coefficient of performance is higher than that of the current heat pump system under heating mode; under cooling mode, the conclusion still holds when the ratio of secondary heat pump load versus the total load is under 15%, while when the ratio is above15%, the performance of the ordinary heat pump is better, and measures to improve the system performance is pointed out.
