THE EFFECT OF SHORT TERM EXPERIENCE ON PEOPLES’ THERMAL PERCEPTION

Short-term experience is related to the memory and seems to be responsible for the changes in people’s expectations from one day to the following. In order to investigate how the previously air conditioned exposure impacts thermal perception in semi-outdoor spaces, the controlled experiments were conducted, with a total of 36 undergraduates who participated as the subjects. Based on the controlled experiments, the impact of previous exposure to air conditioning was examined. It was found that the previously air conditioned exposure time has significant impacts on thermal perception. Compared with the three different duration of exposure to air conditioning, it can be found that the average value of thermal sensation in the semi-outdoor space for half an hour exposure to air conditioning is the lowest. It infers that with a reduction of time exposure to the air conditioning, the subjects tend to give a cool evaluation.
