Combined cooling, heating and power (CCHP) system is an eco-friendly energy utilization manner, whose equipment capacity and operation strategy require rigorous design to give full play to its advantages. In this paper, an optimization model based on the genetic algorithm (GA) is established to realize the capacity and operation strategy optimization for the CCHP system simultaneously. Also eight evaluation criteria considering economic, energy, exergy and ecological (4E) aspects are formulated to evaluate the system comprehensively. Besides, considering the effects of the feed-in tariff on the system scheme and performance, detailed contrastive discussions are performed based on the optimization results. Taking an office building situated in Xian, China as the specific case, the results show that, the implement of the feed-in tariff will reduce the annual total cost of the CCHP system, meanwhile, reducing the dependency of the system on power grid. After running with the feed-in tariff, the economic, energy, exergy and ecological performance of the system are all be improved. The superiority of the CCHP system is more obvious during the heating seasons than during the cooling seasons.
