摘要

We have reported highly transparent color liquid crystal display using newly developed scattering-type liquid crystal without employing color filter and polarizers. We introduce improving optical performance about 4-inch display in advance of upsizing from 4-inch to 12.3-inch. At first, we have improved optical properties by optimizing panel structure, materials and fabrication process for the new model 4-inch display. It has 2x luminance and 2x contrast ratio of the previous model. Furthermore, we tried to increase the panel size to expand possible use case. We succeeded in increasing the panel size by minimizing panel electric load and improving panel driving scheme. This newly developed 12.3-inch transparent display shows high transmittance (87 %) and high contrast ratio (32 to 1).
