In this paper, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method is proposed to evaluate the reliability of the security and stability control devices (SSCDs) of power systems. The main factors that affect the reliability of the SSCDs are first summarized, and the index system of reliability evaluation is built based on the SSCD’s hidden failures. The AHP method is then applied to determine the index weight while the index value is calculated by Markov state space model. Finally, the reliability of the SCS-500E-type SSCD is evaluated.
