In recent time, the Internet has become one of the most vital resources. Online services thorugh internet are becoming increasingly popular. Online services like e-learning, e-banking, e-rail, e-health, etc. are changing the way users perform day-to-day activity. TMIS (Telecare Medical Information System), one such online service, provides facilities to the patient in which both telecare server and patient communicate with each other over existing public network connections. These networks are often insecure. To ensure security and privacy, many two-factor based and three-factor based scheme has been proposed for TMIS system. In this work, we present a novel, lightweight three-factor based authentication scheme for TMIS using ECC(Elliptic Curve Cryptography). Further, the simulation of the proposed scheme using AVISPA tool shows the efficiency of the proposed approach against passive and active attacks.
