Non-invasive foetal ECG signal quality assessment by experts and non-experts

Crowdsourcing is a promising option to generate ground truth data. In medicine only a few works on crowd-sourcing exist. This study compares the assessment of noninvasive foetal ECG signal quality by experts and non-experts via a mobile app in order to investigate the possibilities of this method. Both user groups assessed synthetic non-invasive foetal ECG with defined properties by the developed app. The signal quality was evaluated by a collective decision. Our findings support the method of crowdsourcing but showed that the results depend on the group of users. Experts showed more reliable ratings than non-experts.
