According to the National Energy Policy (KEN) 2014 and the National Energy General Plan (RUEN) 2017 issued by the National Energy Government, the use of Variable Renewable Energy (VRE) is expected to reach 23% by 2025. Wind potential in South Kalimantan can be exploited by considering the rules of the supply and demand balance, the readiness of the electrical system, and the economic aspect of the Tanah Laut Wind Power Generation (WPG) project. According to the operation and economic simulation results, it can be concluded that the existence of Tanah Laut WPG utilizes the available of VRE. The impact operation of Tanah Laut WPG cause the condition of the system is still within the range of allowed voltage and short circuit level. The benefits of the Tanah Laut WPG development were obtained at Rp 69.72 billion over 25 years of operation. The IRR obtained is 12.9%, higher than the 12% discount rate. The BCR value is 1.06, and the payback period is achieved for 11 years of operation make the project of Tanah Laut WPG is feasible.
