Non-Renewable resources like petroleum and coal have always been a resource which needs to be conserved and utilized properly in a rightful manner due to its limited available reserves. Again, these resources have been serving as one of the major economic resources for many countries due to its high monetary value. However, these resources are often smuggled for monetary benefits by certain individuals and groups due to the resource's money value which results in a huge loss for companies and countries. Oil and petroleum is one such resource which has a lot of value in the global market and attracts a lot of attention to smugglers. The loss, due to smuggling, is as huge as $133 Billion for the oil industries per year. Apart from that, the Government also loses around $122 million in terms of tax reparation a year. So, to stop that a novel system has been proposed which creates a digital footprint of the entire tanker using sensors and IoT technology and give valuable inferences from the data acquired to stop oil pilferage in real-time in a cost-effective manner when tankers are en-route from the terminal to the retail outlets. In this way, both pilferage as well adulteration can be stopped to a great extent to save environment, resources and more importantly stop economic losses.
