It has been generally known that a hole in the center of magnetic system for loudspeaker reduces the heat, which is radiated from voice coil. However, the hole can affect to the acoustical properties of loudspeaker. The properties have been investigated as functions of the length and radius of hole. The fundamental resonance frequency of loudspeaker increases with the increase of hole radius. However, the increase of hole length results in the decrease of the resonance frequency. These results are in an excellent agreement with the theoretical predictions for the equivalent mechanical circuit of Bass-Reflex Cabinet System. Thus, the acoustical property of the speaker unit with hole can be predicted from the theoretical interpretation of Bass-Reflex Cabinet System.
