The Impact of Athletic on the Floors in Multi-Layered Sports Facilities

This study aimed to control damage caused by vibration and noise, generated by sports activities or exercises that are transferred to the floors in a building designed as a multi-layered sports facility. The magnitudes of the impact forces traveling to the floors were measured and then analyzed for different types of sports or exercises. The measurements took place inside an indoor gym where professional train. The data were collected repeatedly for each type of exercise and were converted into the means for analysis so that data reliability could be ensured. The impact sources selected for the study were running, basketball, and judo, which were either specified as or divided into particular exercises, namely, sprinting (running); jump shot, low dribbling, and high dribbling (basketball); and shoulder throw (judo), respectively. Impact-force sustainability and frequency characteristics for each exercise were examined using a load cell. The results are intended to be utilized as the basic analysis data for designing multi-layered sports facilities using the finite element method (FEM).
