Study on the Noise Control Implements of Vehicle with Modified Exhaust Pipe

Taiwan is a small island, which is highly populated and crowded. In order to curb the improper modification of the exhaust pipe and improve the tranquility of the environment, from 2010, the Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration (TEPA) has organized the environmental protection agencies, police offices and inspection and control bureaus, to curb the behavior. The vehicle noise banned by the policy has been improved these years. The inspection of the vehicle number in 2011 was 2,800, increased year by year, in 2016, the number had become 26,936, and the increasing rate was from 31.9% to 63.6%. It showed the highlight of TEPA, police offices and supervision agency united inspection had accumulated good experiences and skills, to effectively curb the modified vehicle disturbance situation. In order to prevent the improper modification of the vehicle noise, the main control implements of the TEPA were: (1) To strengthen the joint inspection and ban measures; (2) To establish the notification mechanism; (3) To educate the public. Through the powerful united inspection methods, and the support and cooperation of the police offices on the security conference, we try to beat the modified car rampant sections. We also try to focus on the specific survey points to combat improper modification, to reduce the noise and maintain the tranquility of the environment. In addition, TEPA plans to trial the vehicle exhaust pipe certification in 2017, by using source control, we try to post the qualified mark on the modified exhaust pipe. This method also can prevent the vehicle to be modified back to the original modified pipe. We will continue to strengthen the methods to eliminate the improper modification vehicle exhaust pipe noise and improve the quality of life in the future.
