Is Big Data Analytics Half Embraced by Construction Industry?

Big Data Analytics (BDA) supports industries by providing insights from data. A significant amount of previous research documented that the construction industry, embraced BDA poorly. This study explored the dispersion of BDA in various sectors of construction using a systematic literature search. The study identified that BDA penetrated well into transportation sectors such as highways and railways compared to building construction. The reasons for uneven absorption are deficiency in data science education in civil engineering curriculum, lack of simple BDA tools, resistance to embrace BDA, etc. The study also presents recommendations for effective diffusion of BDA in construction.
