ASME PTC 13 has been recently published and is aimed at being the North American standard for wire power testing of aeration blower packages, especially those employed at water reclamation facilities (WRFs). This presentation introduces ASME PTC 13, including the underlying philosophy of ascertaining how best to test a blower remotely in order to reliably predict the wire power consumption of a blower package at field specified conditions. The presentation describes, for the benefit of a test witness, what are the key considerations involved in testing with ASME PTC 13 and what to expect and look for when involved in conducting a test. ASME PTC 13 focuses on comprehensive testing of all aggregated power consuming components of a blower package, including all blower technologies, and accounting for power consuming components that may not be available at the test facility.
