This study suggests that unlike most polymeric scaffolds, autoclave treatment is a suitable method for terminally sterilizing cryogel scaffolds while avoiding substantial alteration in their physico-chemical and intrinsic properties. Minimally invasiveness and autoclavability along a unique set of unique properties may facilitate the translation of cryogels into clinical use.
