Design and experiment of an electromechanical system for real time thrust modulation of a solid propellant rocket motor have been conducted. The design was based on a movable pintle against a fixed nozzle. The system was integrated with an existing generic rocket motor and tested in various conditions, including a static firing test of the motor. The test demonstrated the capability of thrust magnitude modulation with the electromechanically driven pintle system, performing a smooth transition between two thrust levels.
