MONITORING OF NON-ZERO SLOPE SYSTEMS: A REVIEW OF THE TOOLS AVAILABLE

摘要

Most living systems undergo periods of growth and decay. Engineering managers involved in monitoring living systems are in a predicament because most statistical process control tools for monitoring are for systems with zero slopes. This paper analyzes control charts available for monitoring non-zero slope living systems. The paper identifies strengths and weaknesses of each tool presented, and their most suitable uses. Potential areas of opportunity for research and practice are addressed in this paper. The conclusions serve as groundwork research for developing new statistical tools for Engineering Managers to monitor living systems.
