Renewable energy provides better future to meet the world's energy growing demand. Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) technology generates large and carbon free electricity from thermal energy. This study investigates feasibility of establishing a 100MW Power Plant with thermal energy storage (TES) using CSP's Parabolic Trough (PT) in Longreach, Queensland. PT uses collectors that are straight in one dimension and curves in a parabolic shape in the other two. System Advisor Model (SAM) tool was used for this study. The study analysed overall annual efficiency of plant, optimal capacity of TES, comparative water requirements and energy output of air and water cooled options. It's found a value of 2 solar multiple gives optimal TES capacity up to 5 hours under full load capacity.
