To investigate how PDs influenced by the oil flow speed and temperature in transformer oil, experiments with different PD defect models were carried out and parameters were recorded. Test results shown that the PD properties have significant relevance with the oil flow speed and oil temperature. At a certain temperature, the partial discharge voltage (PDIV) would increase while the maximum PD charges exhibits a fall trend as the oil flow speed increases. However, it would be different once the oil flow speed keeps unchangeable but the oil temperature varies. The PDIV presented an increase trend when the oil temperature was lower than 70°C, but decreases hereafter. Test results presented in this paper would be helpful for transformer operation condition optimization and thus to prolong the service life of its main insulation.
