Silicone Gel Compounds with Non-linear Stress Grading for Medium Voltage Applications

摘要

The paper describes the development of an insulation material compound with non-linear field-grading behavior. As matrix material silicone gel was used. The additives, which cause the non-linearity, consist of a support material with metal oxide coating. The non-linear electrical properties can be adjusted by the introduction of different dopants. In detailed studies the basic properties of the new non-linear-conductive materials (NLCM) were investigated. For demonstration purposes a cable joint test specimen for medium voltage was designed, accompanied by different field simulations. Based on these results a 3D joint shell model was generated and realized with a 3D printer. In a final step the cable joint was tested according to the relevant standard DIN VDE 0278-629-1 [1].
