Off-Grid System for Warning or Signalling Lighting of Dangerous Sections of Roads

In long term, there is a decreasing trend of accident ratio on Czech roads. This is happening thanks to better car safety systems, more efficient emergency services and quality of roadways. We got the idea, based on own experience, to decrease this accident ratio even more. This objective led to the development of a few measures on how to increase road safety, especially on sections with an obstructed view. The result of our research is a system based on the off-grid platform that is meant to work anywhere in the Czech Republic. This off-grid system is modular, and its components are the solar controller, photovoltaic panel, Arduino, laser range-finder, LED strip and accumulation in the form of batteries. This paper describes the development path of this system and its function.
