Application of Automated Trust Verification and Delegation Mechanisms in PEPPOL eProcurement Network

In the domain of public procurement, more and more of the transactions that are taking place are becoming electronic. For the European Union (EU), PEPPOL is the "standard" for eProcurement with most of the required transactions being done through its eDelivery network. Those transactions need to be trustworthy, and by using the components provided by the EU funded LIGHTest project, trust information can be easily published in its infrastructure, using the global Domain Name System (DNS) network and queried when needed. Two scenarios have been identified in PEPPOL as potential pilots for testing trust establishment schemes and are presented in this paper. The first one focuses on the use of automated trust verification within the eDelivery network and the second one on trust delegation in eProcurement tender transactions.
