This paper discusses the slow-scale instability in the current-source inverter which has potential advantages in the PV system. Simulations show that the slow-scale instability occurs in the current-source inverter in the whole line cycle. The averaged model is derived to analyze the slow-scale instability. According to the Jacobian matrix derived from the averaged model, the theoretical analysis shows that the slow-scale instability manifests itself as a Hopf bifurcation occurs. Based on the Jacobian matrix, the stability boundary is obtained by the analytical expression which is able to facilitate the design of the current-source inverter for its simplicity.
